This letter covers a lot of topics and contains several additional pages of notes/copies of other communications Ronald Herbert Prentice (IR1111) thought needed to be shared. All the letters in this collection, to date (4 Nov 2021), were sent to Richard W. Hungerford Jr. (US26). Mr. Prentice shared his letter he sent to a Mrs. Mary Alice Pitzl Hungerford (SH1359spouse2). He also mentions her in the first paragraph and later in the main part of his letter. She had received a letter from her step kids that was sent to them by Richard trying to raise funds for the proposed Jackson Papers microfilming project. She then reached out to Richard and asked for photocopies of the pertinent parts of the Jackson Papers dealing with U. S. Hungerfords. She paid Richard for the copies which he sent to her. Part of the photocopies included a page thanking all the individuals who donated to the cause of raising the money to microfilm the Jackson Papers. Some how she thought her name should be on that first page--not realizing she had missed the chance to do that by months. She complained to Mr. Prentice who sent Richard a letter inquiring what she was talking about - worried it may have been fraud. After Richard explained the circumstances Ron sent this letter. Richard returned her photocopy money to avoid any further hard feelings. Also in this 3 page letter Ronald reacts to an attempt by Richard to scan and transcribe the Jackson Papers. Richard made the suggestion we should do it for all 6 microfilm rolls and he responded. Richard also suggested "we" number all the pages to simplify the process of referencing various passages when talking to other family scholars. There are other topics the reader can come across on their own. (See the 3 Aug 1994 letter Richard sent that Ronald is responding to here.)
