This is the second quarter, 2016 THFFI Newsletter, "The Hungerford World Tree."

In This Issue:

  • Website update: refinements continue. The Surnames database now has more than 47,000 entries that are “live” on our website. That’s an increase of roughly 6,000 people since a year ago. The Medical database has hundreds of individuals with their causes of death. The Library has been updated with more copies of bibles and vital records.

  • The Hungerford Law Firm: A law firm of Hungerford family members located in Oregon City, Oregon specializing in Students Rights and Disability Education Law, Public Sector Labor Law and Employment Law, Litigation and Arbitration, and General Government Law.

  • One 1975 letter and two 1976 letters from Nanette E. (Nicot) Meals to Stanley W. Hungerford: 16 pages listing eight (8) generations of her “Stewart” line descending to her from Patience Hungerford and Samuel Stewart. The information in those letters has generated the addition of nearly 90 new Hungerfords who did not make it into Stanley’s Hungerford genealogy. Copies of those three letters accompany this newsletter.

  • Answer to & winner of the last Quiz.

  • The Quarterly Quiz: This quiz asks you whether you know a gentleman who was born in Cork, Ireland, emigrated to another country, was married twice, was a legislator, and died in poverty. We know the answer, do you? If so, be the first to give us the answer and win.

  • Answer to & winner of the last Quarterly Mystery.

  • The Quarterly Mystery: This question is about a Mr. Hungerford who is pictured in a photograph stepping off the William Crooks, a one-of-a-kind locomotive that entered service in 1861. Who was he? Who were his parents? Was he really a Hungerford? We don’t know the answer, do you? If so, be the first to solve it and win.
