This document is comprised of a single, typewritten page of transcriptions taken from the Gurley Cemetery, Mansfield City, Tolland County, Connecticut, USA on October 16, 1934 accompanied by the cover page for the Mansfield Transcriptions.
The page is an excerpt from Connecticut Headstone Inscriptions, Volume 25; Connecticut, Hale Collection of Cemetery Inscriptions and Newspaper Notices, 1629-1934, 807, Headstone Inscriptions Town of Mansfield, Connecticut, page 96, for "Manam" Stewart and three other members of the Stewart family. It reports:
Stewart, Samuel, died June 19, 1817 age 73 years
Stewart, Manam [sic], wife of Samuel, died Feb. 14, 1792 age 39 [sic] years*
Stewart, Anna, wife of Thomas, died Feb. 24, 1792 age 76 years (broken).
*The photograph of the grave marker for "Manam" Stewart discloses that the transcription is erroneous. "Manam" should be "Mariam" and "age 39" should be "age 40."
It is reasonable to believe that Thomas and Anna are Samuel's parents.
