This image from 1898 shows a profile of Katherine Alexandra Duer Mackay (US1797spouse1) wearing her pearl pendant.
The caption accompanying this image reads:
1898: Katherine Mackay habitualy wore the learge [sic] pearl pendant Clarie had given as an engagement present
Obviously, the word "learge" is a typographical error and should be "large" instead.
