Two different notes were sent to Lewis (SH886) in the envelope, one written in ink and the other in pencil. The inked message discusses how busy the author has been preparing for a Supreme Court case and states he thinks he sent the correct amount in the form of a cheque to Lewis. The second letter discusses Lewis going to Eugene's house as soon as possible and makes mention of fencing and a chicken house.
