This is a single spaced, typewritten letter dated 7 November 1975 from Gwen Boyer Bjorkman to Stanley W. Hungerford accompanied by two pages from her Beeman book which provides the only information that she had with respect to her Hungerford line. Gwen does not have a profile in the surnames Database but is mentioned in the notes for Polly Hungerford.
The book mentions only Polly Hungerford, daughter of Peter Hungerford, who married Rufus Beeman. In her cover letter, Gwen states that the identification of Peter Hungerford as the father of Polly Hungerford was speculative as being "from a family history with no verification."
She goes on to state that there is a Peter Huggeford in New York City 1790 and a Peter Hunger in the 1790 and 1800 Amenia, Dutchess Co., N.Y. Census. She states further that there is a Peter Hungerford age 33 b. N.Y. in the 1850 census of Chemung Co, N.Y. m. Maria age 30. Ch: Marietta - 9, Ansel - 7, Anna M. 4, and Peter - 1. She concludes: "Now if this Peter Hungerford was b. 1817 in N.Y. he could be a grandson of the Peter Hungerford that I am looking for." She then asks Stanley whether he has any record of that man.
As can be seen from Polly's and Peter's profiles, as well as that of Rufus, subsequent research removed any doubt about Peter being Polly's father - but Peter Huggeford (rather than Hungerford>).
