This document is comprised of a two page, hand written letter dated 16 June 1975 from Gertrude Maria (Straight) Hungerford (1907-2004; SH897wife2 in the Surnames database) to Stanley W. Hungerford.

The letter is accompanied by photographs of an article about "The English Love Tradition" and a one page hand written description of the love tradition (where a blacksmith "shods" a woman("shoeing of the colt") to make her an official member of the community).

She mentions her sons Paul and Amede as well as Elisha, Private, 44th New York Infantry, who died at Gettysburg.
