This is the detail of a portion of an oil painting of Clark Hungerford (SH816) done by James Anthony Wills.

Wills has painted cabinet members including George C. Marshall, Secretary of Defense, C. E. Wilson, Secretary of Defense, and Henry Kissinger, Secretary of State. However, his greater works are his long list of Presidential Portraits. He has painted Harry Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and Richard Nixon. Along the stairway to the East Room in the White House hang the portraits of these 20th century Presidents.

Clark Hungerford (SH816) was a Railroad executive who had his likeness painted by this great artist and it hung in the St. Louis-San Francisco Railway Co. headquarters for a long time until it was almost lost in the demolition of the building. The painting was saved from ruin by a "picker" who eventually came into contact with Richard W. Hungerford, Jr. and sold it to him. It is the Foundation's intention to have this magnificent painting hanging in the Orville Hungerford House as part of the Hungerford Museum.
