This is a letter of complaint and warning to John Stanhope Arkwright regarding his son John Arkwright's developing bad habits.

Dear Sir
I feel it is my duty to write to you as I am Sure you cannot be aware of the life your Son John Arkwright is leading in London. I had a very unpleasant experience at his hands about three weeks ago when he entered my flat one evening during my absense under the influence of drink, with another friend in the same condition & went into my bedroom & made disorder there - as also in the hall. I think you will agree with me, that to behave like this in the house of a complete stranger has a gross insult. I am anxious

to protect myself from a repitition of this conduct - as I am a widow living alone I consider an apology is due to me & I demanded this from him through his friend who with me & by whose _____ he entered my flat & receiving no response from him, I venture to appeal to you in the matter. Mrs. Fred Arkwright knows of the affair & is very ______ upset about it.
