Caroline S. Arkwright and her 2 siblings wrote to their Papa. A transcription of this letter:
My dear Papa
Mamma has found some curious ruled paper in Cousin Henry's room, we are going to ask him to let us have some, this is one sheet we are writing on. I hope you had a pleasant journey after we went from the carriage, Mary and Richard stood and looked at it as long as it was in sight. I made a little paper crown for the king, last week and he wore it on his birthday.
THE WORKMEN ARE GOING ON VERY WELL BUT THEY MAKE A SAD DUST.

Little king Henry looked very grand on his birth-day in his robes, and George for a train-bearer. Mamma read Ellen, and Frank to us, his Majesty seemed to like them very much, though he tore part of Frank, and Mamma was obliged to mend it. He asked when his birth-day would come again.
We are dear Papa
