Re Crested Duck
Dear Sir/ In reply to your letter to hand this morning. In the first place what I have to say is that the Crested Ducks exhibited are the property of Mrs. Cape who at the time of the Show was in a Nursing home in Sheffield. I believe when the ducks arrived home Mr. Cape had gone to see his wife at Sheffield on his return from the Show.
My attention was drawn to your correspondence re the Crested Duck and I went to the farm and cross-questioned Wm. Reid about the affair. He assured me that only Mrs. Cape's Ducks returned from the Show.
This is all I know about the matter, and I have nothing to do with it & I do not wish to have anything to do with it.
I am yours Truly
