My dear Jack

I have been intending to write to you for some days but this last 4 or 5 days.  I have been laid up & too unwell

(Page 2)

to do anything.  I could only cough & hold my head - However am better Thank Goodness.  I was so sorry for you all - & so ______ at the sudden loss we have all sustained  - Your father has been one of mu kindest friends

(Page 3)

one of the best of friends but virtually not to me only but to all who came in contact with him.

You have my sympathy Jack - but I fear it no use, it won't replace him--

I suppose you are very busy & will have much to worry you, what with your Public & Private

life.  I hope to hear before long that you will settle down to a new Home and trust you will be as happy in it as I am in mind.

Your very sincere,

Walter Heygate
