Sept. 13 – 48 (Written in pencil)

Eton, Bucks.

Wednesday 13

My dear Father.

I am as you see by this letter safely housed at Eton captain of those that have returned.  I had dinner at the Burlington and came here by the 8:50 train from Paddington.  I found some friends in London and walked about with them to beguile the time.  How did you like Mr. Wilson’s performance?  You must excuse a longer letter for tis nearly school time.  With best love.  Believe me your affectionate Son.

John H. Arkwright

I have enclosed Lester’s bill for writing materials, books etc.  He says that he is in a hurry.  Will you please to send the money?
