John Hungerford Arkwright (EN912) sent his father John Arkwright (EN806dspouse1) this letter as a young man in 1848.  The transcription:

April 11, 1848

Fordington 11th

My dear Father,

I have arrived safely at Fordington by the express train and found them all gone out a long walk.  I got the watch from Deloluie’s, and have given it to Mr. Moule.  I shall most likely start from here on Thursday but you must not be alarmed if I do not see you till Saturday, if there is any sign of a holiday going on here on Friday.  They are all well here and George has quite recovered from his bilious attack.  With best love to all.  I remain your affectionate son.

John H. Arkwright
