This is the fourth quarter, 2016 THFFI Newsletter, "The Hungerford World Tree."

In This Issue:

  • Website update: refinements continue. We have added a site statistics page that shows the number of Hungerford descendants, companies, places, etc. The numbers are dynamic, meaning that the numbers change each time there are additions to any of the databases. There are 50,734 individuals in the Surnames Database as we go to press.

  • Website search tips: with this issue, we continue offering tips for using the THFFI website databases.

  • Hungerford residents of Teffont Evias 1386-1504: We found a remarkable list of some of the earliest known Hungerfords that includes descriptions of their positions (whether Knight, Lord, etc.) who lived in Teffont Evias, Wilshire, England from 1386 to 1504. We discuss all of them and relate them to their profiles in the Surnames Database.

  • Hungerford Design, Inc: Hungerford Design, Inc. (HDI) (CMP94), founded by Andrew Stokes Hungerford (SH1515), collaborates globally with talented architects and designers, using to inspire and enrich people’s lives in the Entertainment, Theme Park, Hospitality and Spa Industries.

  • John Hungerford Gullett’s May 18, 1986 Letter to Stanley W. Hungerford: This is another in our series discussing letters received by Stanley after he had published his Hungerford Genealogy Books. The letter poses a mystery that we could have used for a Quarterly Mystery Question, but we elected to use it as an exercise in trying to identify his great grandmother, who he had “been told” was Julia A. Hungerford “who came to S. Illinois down the river on a raft from Cincinnati.” A copy of his letter is appended at the end of this newsletter. And we found her!

  • Correction: A June 26, 2002 letter from Catherine (Lewis/Townshend) Jestin to Stanley W. Hungerford: We goofed. We correct an attribution error in our article in our last Newsletter about this letter.

  • Answer to & winner of the last Quarterly Quiz.

  • The Quarterly Quiz: This quiz asks you whether you know. We know the answer, do you? If so, be the first to give us the answer and win.
  • Answer to & winner of the last Quarterly Mystery.

  • The Quarterly Mystery: This question is about Richardus Johannes Horatius Hungerford. Who was he, who were his parents, was he married, and did he have children? We don’t know the answer, do you? If so, be the first to solve it and win.
