Myron Louis Lempke sent a letter to Blanche Marks in 1940. It seems they were pen pals. Myron gives a Encyclopedia Britannica listing of the medieval Hungerfords and ends the letter with a mention of the Chicago Historical Society holding a document regarding the Hungerfords coming to America and then to Michigan.
Regarding Blanche:
Amy Gonea responded to Richard W. Hungerford Jr. (US26)’s Facebook Hungerford Book 3000 site inquiry on 30 Jan 2024. The exchange:
Richard W Hungerford Jr--Amy: Any idea how Blanche (the letter recipient) is connected to the Hungerford family? I did a database search and the only one that seems to fit is a Blanche (Howe) Hungerford (1869 - 1943) of Kalamazoo.
Amy Gonea--She is the daughter of Etta B. (1869-1943)-Myron (1841-1925)-Laban (1813-1884). Sister of Edna. Edna married Henry Lempke. Etta married Albert Marks.
Richard W Hungerford Jr--Thank you.
Amy Gonea--Richard W Hungerford Jr I have no idea how the letter came in to the possession of my grandparents. It was stuck in a wallet of my grandmother--of all places.
Richard W Hungerford Jr--Amy Gonea - a mystery--but fortuitous for family historians.
