This article is from pages 48-63 of The Colonial Genealogist, Vol. XI, No.s 1-2, "The Yale Descent From Chief Justice Belknap Through Hampden, Including the Fiennes, Burgh and Other Connections," by Robert Joseph Curfman, Associate Editor.

This was collected by Richard W. Hungerford Jr. (US26) early in his genealogical journey.  Richard had discovered the Hungerfords traced back to royalty and started to explore that topic.  To his amazement it led him from the English kings and queens to the Irish, Scottish, Spanish, French, Vikings, Byzantine, and Kievan royalty.  He started collecting documents such as this to help create the pedigree and flesh out his understanding of the history of the royal house and region of the world on which he was focusing at the time.  This article focuses on an important medieval family that interacted with and intermarried with the Hungerford family or the royal family to whom they trace back.
