This letter from Henry Smith (US1843spouse1) to his wife Elvira is undated but gives us several clues that lead the THFFI researcher to conclude it was 1834.  The main clue is it states October 15th, Wednesday.  He calls her his wife so that means the date range was from 1826 to 1847 when he died.  October 15th occurred on a Wednesday in 1826, 1834 or 1845.  He and Elvira had just gotten married in July of 1826 and their first child wasn't born until 1827 so 1826 (he gives love to the little ones) is out.  The letter's narrative gives the impression he is doing engineering work which his bio states he was doing from 1833 to 1836 - so that is the choice made by THFFI for now.
